Oral ID

As with any cancer, early detection and diagnosis is critical to survival. It’s important for patients to see their dentist regularly, especially if they have a history of tobacco or alcohol usage, or have been exposed to the human papillomavirus. 25% of all oral cancer patients have no known risk factors.

Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers are very thin porcelain facings. They are used to change the shape, color, size and spacing of your teeth. They have a lifelike appearance with the strength, beauty and durability that only porcelain restorations offer. In addition, they will not discolor or wear like natural tooth enamel.

Your porcelain veneers are custom-designed specifically for you. There are various shapes in veneers. You can choose a smile design that is sporty, natural or has that Hollywood look. Creating the perfect smile requires a blending of precision dentistry, perfect planning and an eye for detail.

Producing a perfect smile is an art, as unique and individual as a person’s features. The components that produce a beautiful smile require great attention to detail on a tooth-by-tooth basis. With proper design measurements, the exact proportions of a new smile can be achieved. Meticulous records, measurements and photographs are used to evaluate your smile needs and determine what it will take to produce the perfect smile for you. A waxed model is made from an impression of your teeth before you begin, allowing you to see the result that can be achieved with porcelain veneers.

Whitening with Zoom

The quickest, easiest way to effectively whiten your teeth is in-office treatment with Philips ZOOM WhiteSpeed. This is the only in-office system that has a variable intensity setting so that each treatment can be customized to maximize your comfort.

Desensitizers are used to help minimize sensitivity and protect your enamel. You can have a brighter, whiter smile in just one office visit. To maintain your fabulous new smile, we include whitening trays for you to use at home to touch up as needed.

Scottsdale Dental Emergencies

We realize that emergencies happen at the most unexpected times – toothaches occur, teeth break, crowns come loose, teeth and gums abscess. We will do our utmost to see you the same day or refer you to the appropriate specialists who will take care of your dental emergency.

Periodontics

Perio Protect

Perio Protect - Prevent Gum DiseasePerio Protect is a minimally invasive approach to help reduce the bacteria causing gum disease. More than 80% of American adults have some form of gum disease. For most patients, brushing and flossing alone cannot control the bacteria causing the disease. Bacteria can spread from the mouth to other parts of the body and have been linked to diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

Dentists and hygienists can mechanically remove the bacterial biofilm in plaque and calculus but the biofilm is capable of regrowth in as little as 3 days. Keeping the bacteria under control between office visits is very important. Perio Protect Trays are customized soft flexible trays that you wear at home. They have a special seal to place prescribed medication (low-dosage 1.7% hydrogen peroxide) below the gumline to kill the bacteria. A common side effect is whiter teeth from the 1.7% hydrogen peroxide.

The Perio Protect Method can help avoid repetitive invasive treatment such as surgery whenever possible.

Occlusal Guards

Are you waking up with headaches or sore jaws? Teeth grinding (bruxism) and clenching are very common problems, usually stress-related and occurring mostly during sleep. This can cause headaches, painful jaw joints, accelerated wear and tear of teeth and cracked teeth and fillings. We can make you a comfortable custom fitted occlusal guard to protect your teeth and joints.

Dental Implants

Scottsdale AZ Dental ImplantsAn implant has two parts: a biocompatible metal root and a custom-made tooth/crown which is attached to it. Underlying bone is prepared to accept the root which becomes part of your jawbone.

Implant patients are of all ages and implants may be the right choice for anyone missing one or more or even all of their teeth due to injury, disease or decay. They can replace one or more teeth, support a bridge and eliminate the need for a removable partial denture or provide support to make a complete denture more secure and comfortable.

ClearCorrect

Judy Huey DDS - Scottsdale Dentist - Clear Correct-logoNo more suffering through “metal mouth” to have straight teeth. ClearCorrect is a virtually invisible way to straighten teeth using a series of custom-made clear aligners. Upon consultation, we determine if ClearCorrect is right for you. After impressions are taken of your teeth, a series of plastic aligners are custom-designed for you. Each aligner is precisely calibrated and manufactured to fit over your teeth and worn for approximately 3 weeks, gradually moving your teeth, before being replaced by the next in the series until the final cosmetic result is achieved. ClearCorrect is comfortable to wear and because the clear aligners are removable, you can still enjoy your favorite foods while brushing and flossing normally.

Snoring and Sleep Apnea

Do you suffer from excessive daytime sleepiness? Does your partner complain you snore loudly? Do you find yourself longing for a nap by the afternoon? If these symptoms are present in your life, you may be suffering from a condition know as Obstructive Sleep Apnea, or OSA.

OSA is a serious medical condition that is associated with hypertension, stroke and heart problems. In the past, many who suffered from OSA were required to sleep with a CPAP, an oxygen machine to force air into their airways while they slept. These machines limit sleeping positions and are noisy.

As a member of the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, I can make you a custom designed oral appliance which opens up your airway and helps you get a good night’s sleep. We also make snore guards for those of you who are just snorers who are tired of sleeping in separate bedrooms.
