What to Do if You Have a Dental Emergency While Abroad
Out of sight out of mind:
Dental Emergencies.
Have you ever considered what you would do if you had a dental emergency while traveling away from home, either out of the state or country? Let’s face it: Teeth break, crowns fall out, appliances fail, a toothache starts out of the blue…
Here are a few tips for you intrepid travelers
- If you’re staying at a hotel with a concierge service, they usually have the contact info of local dentists who can evaluate or treat you in an emergency.
- Domestically, you also have the option of contacting the local dental society which usually has a referral service of its members who are available to treat dental emergencies.
- Outside the U.S., your best bet is to look up the U.S. consulate or embassy for assistance as the ex-pat staff also needs regular dental care and will be able to provide referrals.
