How Our Scottsdale Dentist Office Prevents Infections & the Spread of Disease
What is infection control? It’s the procedures that your doctors take to prevent the spread of disease.
We care about our patient’s safety and well-being and work hard to protect each and every patient from the spread of disease. We follow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommendations for dental offices and we take them very seriously.
This is what happens before any patient is seen in the treatment room:
- The dental chair, unit and overhead light are covered with disposable protective covers which are replaced after each patient.
- All countertops are cleaned and decontaminated using Caviwipes. Caviwipes are disposable towels soaked with Cavicide which is a surface disinfectant effective against TB, Hepatitis B, C, viruses and bacteria such as MRSA among others.
- All patient safety glasses and headphones/cd players are decontaminated with Caviwipes.
- Dental instruments are run through an ultrasonic cleaner, packaged and sterilized using a Statim autoclave. The Statim autoclave is tested weekly through an independent lab using a spore test to be sure it is functioning effectively.
- We wear protective coats, masks gloves and eyewear.
- Disposables such as masks, gloves, suction tips are thrown away after every patient.
- We wash our hands and/or use hand sanitizers before gloving.
The next time you’re in the office, feel free to ask us to walk you through our infection control protocol.
